September 2026
Dear Parents and Guardians,
In September, students in grades 1-5 will participate in the online NWEA MAP Growth Assessments as follows:
- Grades 1-5: NWEA MAP Growth for Math
- Grades 3-5: NWEA MAP Growth for Reading
This is a benchmark assessment that will provide valuable information on how to best support and monitor students’ individual needs. Students will also participate in mid-year and end-of-year NWEA MAP Growth assessments to monitor their progress throughout the year. NWEA MAP Growth for Reading and Math MAP Growth is a nationally normed, standards aligned, computer-adaptive test administered three times (fall, winter, and spring) during the school year that uses a Rasch Unit (RIT) scale to accurately measure what students know, regardless of their grade level. Instead of asking all students the same questions, it adjusts to each student’s performance—giving a more accurate measure of what they know. It also measures growth over time, allowing you to track your student’s progress throughout the school year and across multiple years. Once your student completes a MAP Growth test, they receive a RIT score. Teachers use the scores to identify learning areas that their class should focus on, as well as monitor the growth of individual students.

Your student’s score on these assessments will be communicated with you via ParentVUE approximately 2-3 weeks after the testing window closes on October 1, 2026. If you have any questions, please contact your student’s teacher.
