Reflex Math

 What is Reflex Math?
It is a program that builds math fact fluency, which is essential to success in mathematics. Students gain fluency by learning “fact families,” in which they focus on a set of facts for a group of numbers. Subtraction and addition are paired and taught together. Similarly, multiplication and division facts are taught as a family.
What can Reflex Math do?
  • Adaptivity and individualization. Reflex continuously monitors each student’s performance to create the optimal experience for every child.
  • Intuitive and powerful reporting. Educators have everything they need to easily monitor and support student progress in Reflex
  • Anytime, anywhere access. Students can build fluency with Reflex anywhere there is an Internet connection and with both a computer and/or an iPad/iPhone.
  • Fun! Reflex is game-based and highly motivational so students enjoy the learning process.
How is Reflex Math used at Drew Model School?
Every student at Drew Model School has a Reflex Math account provided by their teacher.  Each teacher sets up and manages the student accounts.  Students will login by selecting their teacher, selecting their name and entering their password.  All student passwords for Reflex Math are their six-digit date of birth (Ex. January 7, 1993 = 010793).  Drew Model students use Reflex on a weekly basis to encourage math fluency.  Reflex Math is unique in that it adapts to each student individually as they progress.  If a student needs more challenging content, it will begin to increase the difficulty.
Reflex Math is never used to calculate your child’s grade.  If they get something wrong in the application, it does not count against their classroom grade.  Reflex Math is meant to be a fluency exercise and a positive reinforcement.
How does my child log in to Reflex Math?

When the application first loads, it asks for a Username – but it is really asking you which school you attend.  So, for the Username you need to type “drewmodel” and press Return to submit it.  Students will then select their teacher’s name, select their name and then enter their password.  All student passwords for Reflex Math are their six-digit date of birth (Ex. January 7, 1993 = 010793).

Should my child use Reflex Math on an iPad or a computer?
Not every student at Drew Model has a personalized device, so some students will have to log in on a computer/laptop.  Since Reflex Math is a browser-based program, you do not need to install the application on a computer and it works fine on both PCs and MACs.  Students who do not have iPads will simply access the Reflex Math portal on the web by directing their Internet browser to:  Once the site is loaded, students click on LAUNCH in the upper right corner of the screen to begin the log in process.
If students do have an assigned iPad, we recommend you access Reflex Math on the iPad.  The app should already be installed on your child’s iPad.  If it is not installed, you can easily install it by accessing the APS-approved “App Catalog” on the iPad.  Click on App Catalog, find Reflex Student, and click Install.  After a child loads the app, they will be directed to follow the log in process.  Logins are created and managed by the child’s classroom teacher.  Email their teacher if your child forgot their login or their login is no longer working.
