Purpose of Assessment: The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) appraises the cognitive development of students by measuring students’ learned reasoning abilities in the three symbol systems most closely related to success in school: Verbal reasoning, Quantitative reasoning and Nonverbal reasoning.
