Instrumental Music Teacher
My role as the Instrumental Music Teacher is to introduce students to the joys and wonders of playing an instrument. Music provides a unique opportunity to build advanced levels of empathy and is a means of grappling with the complexities of the human condition. At ATS every student is given the opportunity to explore this by building foundational skills that they get to showcase through a variety of performance opportunities. I hope to foster in all students a love and appreciation for instrumental music!
I grew up in Northern Virginia and earned my International Diploma at Robinson Secondary before continuing on to the University of North Carolina where I earned my Bachelor of Music with a minor in Classical Greek. Currently, I am working towards my Master of Music in Wind Conducting at the Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia. Prior to joining APS this year, I taught various music subjects to grades K-12 in public, charter, and independent schools in North Carolina, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. I am a member of the National Association for Music Education, the Virginia Music Educator’s Association, and Phi Beta Kappa.
