Launches live with Mrs. Black starting Monday, March 2.

One Book, One School School-wide March Event – Charlotte’s Web

Dear Drew Family,

I am excited to share that we will be participating in a total school Reading Event for the month of March.  Every student will be participating in this event in some way.

The book is Charlotte’s Web.  The books were purchased for the students by the National Capital Bank near the Arlington Courthouse.  It is a forever book.

Everyone is invited to read independently, with the family, or by listening through teams and recorded links. I will be reading it Monday through Thursday from 7:00-7:30 for the next two week.

Grades 2-5 received a copy of the book with a bookmark and a schedule.  They may read ahead.

PreK-1 grade will be focusing on non-fiction pigs and spiders as well as some fictional pig stories.

Everyone is invited to listen to the book Charlotte’s Web via Teams.    As a school, I will be reading the book March 2-5 from 7:00-7:30 pm and March 9-12th from 7:00-7:30 pm through the Teams link that will be shared at the bottom of this Parent Square message.  If you are unable to listen at that time, I am also sending a link with Bankers reading the different chapters from across the state of Virginia.   These can be listened to at any time.

The book, Charlotte’s Web, is in a farming community.  Through the book, our students will learn about a different community, friendship, kindness, being supportive, problem solving, and life cycles. I would like to encourage the whole family to participate in this reading event by reading together.  Reading aloud at home is valuable because it better prepares your child to be an effective reader and it is also a fun worthwhile family activity.

If you have any questions, please let me know.  Happy Reading.

Mrs. Black, Drew’s Librarian
